If you have been assessed as needing help by your social worker but your council cannot provide this help the way you want it you can try and get Direct Payments. You must be over 16 and have a bank account. The money will be paid into this account and you must be able to prove that it is spent on what you have said and that you can manage it with help. For example you could hire a support worker to help in your home so that you can live independently or go out on activities. Direct Payments do NOT affect your other benefits.
