Don’t be put off by the title, the Special Olympics are for ALL abilities, you just have to want to take part and be in a competition
Sports you can do are:
SUMMER – Aquatics (swimming and Diving), athletics (track and field), basketball, bowling, cycling, equestrian, football (soccer), gymnastics (artistic and rhythmic), Table-tennis, ten-pin bowling, team handball, powerlifting, roller skating, softball, tennis, volleyball.
WINTER – Alpine Skiing, Cross Country Skiing, Figure Skating, Speed Skating, Floor Hockey ALSO – Badminton, Boccia, Golf, Sailing, Cricket and Netball. Special Olympics also has the Motor Activities Training Programme (MATP) for people with profound or multiple learning disabilities.
