If you need help with speaking or writing you can use Communication Aids
These can be:
visual aids with symbols, pictures or words
electronic voice output devices
You may be able to get Communications Aids from:
NHS – Speech and Language Therapy Service
Your Local Education authority or your School or College
To find out more, you can go through your GP and ask for your local NHS Speech and Language Therapy Service.
Who can then refer you to the NHS regional or national centres- where Speech and Language Therapist can assess your needs and give advice on the most suitable aid for you.
Check out the links on the Direct Gov website for where to find help with communication difficulties. Most are for parents or carers but are still useful!
