HEART ‘n’ SOUL
Is an organisation run by people with Learning Disabilities. They have many groups all over the country and each area runs their own club.
The Beautiful Octupus Club was first held in South London and has been so successful that the idea has been copied all over the country. Most of the clubs have different names but they all share the same spirit.
The reason why these clubs are so cool is that they feel just like a ‘normal’ club.
Many of the clubs for young people with Learning Disabilities don't play the right music or even feel like a proper rave. The beautiful Octupus Club does, as it is run by people with Learning Disabilities for people with Learning Disabilities and is not done by carers.
The one held in Croydon at the Fairfield Hall has great music, a place to get nails done, tattoos (the ones that wash off after a couple of days) and is a great night out.
Squidz Club and The Beautiful Octopus Club
Are both for young people with a Learning Disability between the ages of 14 – 25.
