Rama is a God who is very popular with Hindus

When people look at Rama they talk about how good he is at telling the truth, doing the good things for people, being a loving husband and being a strong King that people want to rule over them.

He is the 7th form of Lord Vishnu. The story of Rama tells us that he was born on earth to stop the evil in the world. You can read 2 books that tell stories about Rama's life in India as a hero. One is called the Hindu epic of Ramayana. One is called The Romance of Rama written by a poet called Valmiki. Hindus believe that Rama lived in the Treta Yug.

What does the God Rama look like?

In lots of pictures he is standing up not sitting down. He has an arrow in his right hand, a bow in his left and a quiver on his back. His wife Sita may be next to him. His brother Lakshmana, and the monkey called Hanuman can also be with him. He looks like a prince and has a mark on the forehead called a tilak. His skin colour is dark – a bit blue.
