Mothering Sunday

Mothering Sunday is the fourth Sunday of Lent and is known now as Mothers Day.

It comes from the time when people worked and lived away from home and allowed a Sunday off to travel back to their ‘mother church’ and worship, and to visit their mother and family.

They often took a gift for their mother and now Christians use this day to show their mother how much they love them. They give cards and presents or they might make something nice for their Mum such as a breakfast or a collage or help out with chores.
