Gurpurabs - Sikh festivals and holy days

Sikhs believe that divine guidance was given to mankind by ten Enlightened Masters, or Gurus. The divine spirit was passed from one Guru to the next, starting with Guru Nanak – who founded the religion in 1469 – and ending with Guru Gobind Singh in 1708. Sikhs remember the lives of the Gurus in festivals called Gurpurabs.

The next few pages will look at Sikhs, their beliefs, festivals and customs.
