Celebrating Guru Nanak Jayanthi

Guru Nanak Sahib is the founder of Sikhism He was born on 15 April 1469 in Punjab. The Sikh community celebrates his birthday all over India.

He preached the Sikh faith and spent his life teaching, writing and wandering around the world to talk about religion with Muslims and Hindus.

The celebrations are made all over India, especially in Punjab and Haryana.

Sikhs celebrate this day by reading the Guru Granth Sahib.

Gurdwaras are decorated with flowers, ribbons and pictures.

Sikhs sing, pray and feast together.
