This is money you pay to the council for the services they provide, for example taking your rubbish away. People pay different amounts of money because of the different areas they live in, these are called “bands”.
If you own your home you can get reduced council tax to the band below what you should pay because you have a disability.
If you rent your home you can get help with your council tax if you get Housing Benefit or Income Support.
