In some churches a vigil is kept on the Saturday night.
East Sunday is the day Christians celebrate the resurrection, (rising from the dead) of Jesus. This is a joyful day, a cause for celebration, knowing He has overcome death, and it is the most significant day in the Christian calendar, apart from the birth of Jesus.
